Description | A work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills and concepts. A learning plan is developed by the college and the employer. | ||||||||||

Learning Outcomes |
As outlined in the learning plan, apply the theory, concepts, and skills involving specialized materials, tools, equipment, procedures, regulations, laws, and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental, social, and legal systems associated with the occupation and the business/industry. Demonstrate legal and ethical behavior, safety practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills, and appropriate written and verbal communication skills using the terminology of the occupation and the business/industry. |

Lecture Topics Outline |
Students must work a minimum of 10-13 hours per week for a period of 15 weeks (or the length of the semester). The students must have completed 160 hours by the last day of classes of the semester. Students may not work 20 hours or more per week and end the semester early. Students must work all semester in order to receive a more beneficial learning experience. | ||||||||||
Major Assignments Schedule |
Major Assignments Week 1 through Week 15: Work 10-13 hours a week at internship location, and complete 160 hours by December 2. Students will keep a weekly journal on their intern experience and will prepare weekly reports due each Monday for the previous week to be turned in on Black Board. Week 1 Report: Attend mandatory orientation with instructor. Turn in documents handed out in meeting. Week 2 and 3 Report: Turn in Work Schedule, Cover Letter and Resume Week 4 Report: Interview assignment Week 5 Report: Week 6 Report: Time Management assignment Week 7 Report: Company History Week 8 Report: Week 9 Report: Week 10 Report: Letter of Recommendation Week 11 Report: Week 12 Report: Professional Goals Week 13 Report: Week 14 Report: Week 15 Report: Schedule Exit interview and Final report due. Attendance Policy | Students must adhere to the dress code and other policies of their internship locations. Students must notify internship supervisor and instructor regarding absences. It is the student?s responsibility to make up any missing hours. All internship hours must be completed by noon on last class day of semester. | ||||||||||
Academic Honesty | Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty. | ||||||||||
